RECORDINGS
It is going to be a busy year with three CD recordings in the works.
The first is a two-CD set of the complete quartets by the eminent Geologist and composer, John Ramsey. The four quartets will be recorded by Philip Hobbs and released on the Divine Art label.
The second CD is a collaboration with jazz saxophonist and composer Uwe Steinmetz. This will be our second CD with Uwe, the first entitled 'Stations on the Road to Freedom' (2005). The CAUX QUINTET (FSQ + Steinmetz) will be recording a mixture of new compositions by Steinmetz, and improvisations on works from the Baroque period including Purcell Fantasias and selections from Bach's Art of Fugue. To learn more about Uwe, or to hear tracks from his recent CDs, check out his website at http://www.u-musik.us You can hear samples of the Caux Quintet, taken from past performances, by clicking on 'u-musik' and selecting 'Caux Quintet.' If you would like to help with this recording, we would be extremely grateful for donations of any amount!!
Last but not least, we will record the Bruckner String Quintet and Intermezzo with Jonathan's sister, violist Carolyn Sparey and also the Bruckner String Quartet. This CD will be recorded by Philip Hobbs and released on the Linn Records label.
All of our previous CDs are available for sale directly through the FSQ. Some of our more popular CDs include Haydn Seven Last Words from the Cross, Op. 51, the Brahms clarinet quintet with Lesley Schatzberger (playing on a copy of the instrument the work was composed for), the historic first recording of Shostakovich's complete String Quartets, and Vaughan Williams' On Wenlock Edge with James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook. You can view more CDs on our website. To order, please contact Heather Tuach at htuach@hotmail.com or 07891 558252.
